Exactly. It’s amazing to me that these religious conservatives can’t see that imposing their religious beliefs on others makes them no better than the religious extremists they wage war against.

They get ‘emotionally worked up’ over this issue because it’s about controlling women and their bodies. Plain and simple.

And most importantly, we must not allow fanatics to rule our lives. Essentially what the pro-lifer is saying here because they believe in the rights of that blob in woman’s uterus, despite it’s absurdity, all others–no matter what they believe–must obey them.
For men,, suppose a group of fanatic Muslims demand that a law be passed to criminalize the drinking of alcohol because it offends them. It scare’s me to know that there are creatures who can become emotionally worked up over the contents of a stranger’s uterus

Excellent post. Time we stopped allowing the media to portray who we are. I’m ensuring that my 8 and 9 year old daughters see the media for what it is, so that they can choose not be influenced…

There’s a lot of waking up to be done, however!

This excessive worry about appearance is entirely due to the overall discrimination against women and girls, so that even babies are not safe from it.

Face it, nothing you can do or say is going to change this ancient hatred of anything female. What you can do is to ignore it or to pretend to think it is funny. When it is too bad and results in hazing, complain to your superiors (and theirs) about the offenders, then make your complaints public if they are ignored. In the meantime, tell others and find someone else to run interference, like fellow sufferers, who are likely getting the same ugly comments.
